Statement

I am interested in how the patterns created by humans are reflections of what is found in nature.  My approach is to take elements of these visual patterns and strip them down to the bare minimum, so that I am left with the essential element/s.

This process of getting to the core is poignant and provocative and can be aggressive, soft, draining, refreshing (etc).  It is most commonly unpredictable and reflective of the different stages of bringing things to the forefront.  Different phases of seeing.

Frequently what is found on my canvas is a result of a new experience, an interesting visual scenario, a color I am obsessing over or a dream like image I am holding onto.  Then, the canvas becomes a space for me to recreate the evanescence and sparkle of a moment, a longing or a memory that if forgotten would leave an unbearable emptiness.

The canvas facilitates reconnections to these spaces, places, people and things we can not let go of, those elements that influence our beings when we are strolling the beach on a lazy Sunday, eating dinner with friends and family, watching butterflies, running atop mountains, listening to music or dreaming.

And then, when it is all over,

I let you go

Each and every time
